Still Working...

Okay people, I know you miss me and my posting...or at least I miss posting, but our lives have been completely consumed by our darn kitchen. I am happy to say that we are putting the finishing touches on it this week and we really are almost done. What a project! I am loving the results and really can't believe that we did it ourselves (with lots of consulting from our neighbor, Tyler and Steve's new best friends at the Home Depot!). I am pretty amazed that it actually is turning out as nice as it is. It is kind of scary to experiment on your own kitchen and figure things out as you go, but we have learned a lot (mostly that we don't want to do this again for a really long time!!). I made the mistake of telling Steve I had some ideas for our bathroom and he told me to take a hike and get back to him in 2013! Pictures to come shortly!

Three Months Old!

Emery turned 3 months old yesterday (or last friday if you are counting weeks...whichever!) She is just getting so big so fast. She is doing much better at holding her head up. I put her in the bumbo yesterday and she could do it for a few seconds but then got too tired and her head flopped over! She is sleeping and eating great! I got her on a 4 hour eating schedule last week and I feel like I have 5 more hours in the day! Feeding her every 3 hours was too much! Every 4 I can handle. She is super smiley and when she is rested and fed will smile at everyone. Davis loves it...'she is smiling at me, mom! ' She is very content and will sit and take in her surroundings. I gave her a little haircut yesterday but forgot to take pictures. Her 'old man ring' around the bottom of her head was getting to be too much for me! I didn't cut much so it looks a little better but probably could use some more! We just love this little girl to pieces. Here is a cute picture of 'our princess' as Davis calls her. (sorry I forgot to turn it before I loaded it and now I can't figure out how to).

What We've Been Doing

We are crazy enough to remodel our kitchen and we are trying to do a lot of it ourselves...so this is what my kitchen looks like right now.
Scary! We spent the entire weekend painting our cabinets and still have a whole lot to do on them. It is a way bigger project than I thought it was going to be. I just hope we finish sometime in the near future so we don't have to try to function in this disaster forever. We will post pictures when it looks better than this!!

Time Out For Women

I had such a great time with Jenny and Michelle at Time Out For Women last weekend in Indianapolis. (Steve likes to fondly call it Over time for Dads!) It was so nice to get away, listen to some great talks, shop like crazy and just hang out together. I love these girls and was so glad to get to spend the weekend with them! Thanks to my amazing husband for watching the kids all weekend. When I got home he said 'I don't know how you get anything done between feeding the baby and keeping up with Davis'. I don't know either, but sure was nice to have a break for a couple of days!

Happy Anniversary to us!

5 years! I can't believe it has been that long but at the same time it feels like we have been married forever! (In a good way!) We had a nice night out to dinner downtown last weekend and walked down to see the bridges on the Ohio River. It was great to go out without any kids! We are looking forward to a 5 year anniversary vacation later this year. Happy Anniversary Steve! I love you more than I can say.

Emery Smiles!

Emery has gotten a lot more smiley recently, especially for me and especially after she eats and is full and happy. I love it! I could sit and watch her smile all day. The other morning I went to get her up and she was just smiling away. What a sweet girl. Here are a couple of cute pics I got of her the other day with her happy face!

Emery's Blessing

Emery's blessing was yesterday. We missed have our parents and other family that are far away with us, but it was a beautiful, special day. So fun to be able to celebrate Emery and what a special little girl she is. Steve did an amazing job blessing her. One of my friends commented that it almost sounded like a patriarchal blessing. It was really beautiful and made me even more excited for her and the wonderful life that she has to live. I feel so blessed to be her mom and have her be a part of our family.

Mom and Emery. I think it is so cute how she is looking at me! A cute little girl in the bathroom at church yesterday said "I really like your baby. I think she is going to grow up to look just like you." I thought that was a pretty nice compliment!
