Emery is 6 months old!

Emery turned 6 months old a couple of weeks ago. She had her checkup today and here are her stats:
Weight: 15 lbs 16.5 oz (30th %tile
Height: 26 3/4 inches (77th %tile)
Head: 17 inches (65th %tile)
She is rolling all over the place-she can get around a whole room by rolling and she is starting to get her legs under her like she might decide to crawl soon. Not too soon, I hope. The same week she turned 6 months, she sprouted her 2 bottom teeth. They are sharp and she knows how to use them!! She is babbling a lot and making lots of noise. She has started saying 'ga ga ga' and 'ma ma ma'. She is sleeping at least 10 hours at night. She is a super happy, calm (as long as she is fed and rested!) baby. We are loving every minute of her. There is nothing better than getting a happy smile from Miss Emery Jae (and she gives them out generously!).

For her 6 month 'birthday' Emery got her first taste of cereal. She wasn't such a fan and still isn't! I am still having a hard time getting her to eat it and not spit it out. Don't let that cereal all over her face fool you. None of it went down.

Holiday World

Not sure why we picked the hottest day of the summer to go to Holiday World, but it was just that...the hottest day ever. Really, I'm not exaggerating! Anyway, we still had a great time and Davis loved every second of it...even when he got lost (super scary, by the way. Steve and I were on the verge of panic but thankfully a park worker found him and Aunt Jenny found them. He said he was trying to go 'ride the waves'. Bless his heart, I hope he learned a lesson...probably not!). This kid has no fear of anything. He is super tall and could go on the huge rides and he loved them. I couldn't believe he wasn't scared. He would get off of something and say 'let's go again!' We had a really fun day. Thanks to our great neighbors for inviting us and making it such a fun time.

Davis is still carrying this map around the house and talking about what rides he went on and what rides he wants to go on. He was a great navigator!

Emery Lately

I got out the exersaucer the other day and Emery is loving it...Davis kind of loves it, too! Funny how kids always want to play with the baby toys!

What a pretty girl!

The highchair is Emery's new favorite spot. I think she feels like a part of everything going on in the kitchen.

Random

I've been on a little hiatus from blogging...we have been so busy just enjoying the summer and playing like crazy! But don't worry, I am back! Here are a couple of random pictures, and scroll down if you like for several more posts below.

This is Davis' new trick...Emery was crying and Davis said he was going to go help her. I came upstairs to this...and it worked. She was happy as a clam with Davis in her bed. He is so big, I am pretty sure he is going to break her bed, but I think it is so cute that he wants to be with her.

Davis wanted goggles like his cousins have. He wore them all day for about a week after we bought them. Now, he will just wear them when we are swimming, thankfully! I just love this picture.

Independence Day

We had a as good of a 4th of July as we could with Steve gone (working in Atlanta). This was his 2nd year in a row he was gone over the 4th, so I told him he'd better plan differently next year! It was sad to not have him here and I love this holiday, so we tried to celebrate on our own anyway.

I had fun making the kids outfits and I thought they looked pretty darn cute. (although I couldn't get a decent picture of the both of them!).

We had a great time at Keith and Jenny's on Saturday and The White's on Sunday. Davis LOVED the fireworks (we aren't big on fireworks, so this was the first time he has really had them). Good times and good friends. It was a great weekend.

Trip to Atlanta

Steve had a show for work in Atlanta at the end of June/beginning of July and was down there for over 2 weeks. We decided to go down and stay with him for a weekend. I was nervous to drive down with the kids by myself, but it went okay and we had a really fun weekend.

We had to go to a Braves game...we love our baseball around here. Davis lasted about 45 minutes before he was bouncing off the walls-we wanted to stay for the fireworks, but there was no way he was going to make it. We still had a great, hot time!
Emery's first baseball game. Yes, her dress it that wet just from drool. I keep thinking she might get a tooth sometime, but still nothing. She constantly chews on her hands and can fit her entire fist in her mouth.

We had a lot of fun swimming at the hotel's pool. This was Emery's first time swimming and I think she enjoyed herself!

Grandma Comes to Visit

We were lucky enough to have Grandma Larsen come stay in Kentuckiana for almost 2 weeks in June. She was working during the day grading AP English tests and then got to play with all of us at night. It was so great to see her and spend time with her. Here are some of the fun things we did with her.

It wouldn't be a good family get together without a BBQ at Keith and Jenny's. Here are all the Kentuckiana grandkids with Grandma (and yes, that is my son in his underwear...shockingly he peed in his pants and I didn't have any clean ones with me, so that is what you get! He seriously rocks the no pants look.)

We went to waterfront park...this was my first and probably last trip there. Let's just say not super clean and somewhat sketchy. The people watching, however, was terrific. I saw some very interesting things while we were there....I wont' go into details!

They really are 2 little monkeys and they probably should be caged up like this all the time!
