Wow, I have not blogged forever. I do have a sort of good excuse...we got a new computer for Christmas and it has taken me awhile to get everything switched over, then we were having problems with the internet working but we finally got a router this weekend and got the internet worked out. However now I can't get my camera to download to this computer. So, still now pictures but as soon as I get it working I will do a holidays update. We have been spending all of our spare time looking for houses and being a little frustrated about it, but I think we have some good leads this week so we will see how it goes. Hopefully we can find the right thing for us...SOON!

An update on our car drama...the company that shipped our car broke off the mirror and we didn't know it but there was a $250 deductible so we ended up having to pay for most of it. Unfortunately that was the least of our problems. A few weekends ago, right after we got the car back from the shippers, we drove down to Nashville for some business stuff that Steve had to do down there. Well, our clutch went out about 30 miles outside of Nashville. Someone from the division down there had to come get us, we had our car towed to the dealership and then after going through all the channels that we could, Nissan refused to cover the clutch even though the car only has 18,000 miles on it and is under warranty. They consider it a 'wear and tear item'. So, well, that just stinks. It was a ton of money to get it fixed. I still can't believe that they wouldn't cover it. We will never buy another Nissan. They weren't even willing to listen to us or give us any options. I pretty much hate them. Yes, I am bitter! I can't believe that much can go wrong with one car in such a short amount of time. At least we have it all back in one piece and it drives!

"Dependable" Auto Shippers...not so dependable

When we moved out here to Kentucky, we drove Steve's car out (just he and I) and decided we didn't want to make the drive again and we especially didn't want to do it with Davis. So, we had my car shipped out here and we all flew out. Well, that was a great idea in theory. In reality, not so great. First of all, when Steve's mom and I dropped my car to the shipping place, it was the most ghetto part of Salt Lake I had seen. I can't believe I left my car there. Scary. They said it would take about 10 days to get my car to Kentucky so we took it about a week before I left Salt Lake and I borrowed my mom's car until we flew out. Well, it took 23 days. Yep, over 3 weeks. To the company's credit, they did pay for a rental car for over a week after we freiked out that it was taking so long. Then, to top it off, this picture is what the passenger side of my car looked like when we got the car back. They knocked off the mirror. Seriously, who knew shipping a car would be such a hassle.

Happy 2nd Birthday, Davis!

Monday, December 15th was Davis' 2nd birthday. It is really hard to believe that 2 years have passed since he was born into our family and that he has gone from this sweet tiny baby:

Seriously, where does the time go? We had a fun little party to celebrate his big day. Davis LOVES cars, trucks and pretty much anything with wheels so I was quite proud of this truck cake that I made (thanks to Uncle Sheldon, the king of cute cakes for the idea).

Davis always enjoys a sweet treat (he is constantly asking for 'treat' or 'tandy') and birthday cake and ice cream were no exception.

He had a great time opening his presents. He kept saying 'open it'!

He got some great gifts. I think his 2 favorite presents where the race car track from his Grandma and Grandpa Larsen (all of the kids where fighting over it and he has already played with it for hours) and a book that his Grandma and Grandpa Wright gave him that have their pictures in it. He always wants to look at it and says 'Gma and Bompa'. So cute.

We made ginger bread houses for his party and Steve really got into it. Steve, Jon, Sam and Jenny were the winners of great ginger bread houses.

We were so glad that Keith and Jenny and their cute kids could come celebrate with us. We missed Chelli and her family...there was a really bad ice storm and they couldn't make it-the weather has been crazy since we have been here.

Home Sweet Home?!

Well, we are getting settled in Louisville. We moved in to our apartment on Saturday and I don't think I have ever been so cold. Seriously. They talk about that 'humid, wet' cold and it is serious business. The weather seems pretty variable here. One day so cold I wanted to die and the next really okay. It has been really rainy (like soaking you can't go outside rain) this week. Anyway, several guys in our new ward were nice enough to come freeze and help us move our stuff in. I can't believe how long getting everything put away and liveable takes. It took us 2 days and most of our stuff is in storage. Crazy. But, we are pretty much there and feeling somewhat at home in our cozy apartment. The funny thing is we actually have more space in our living room than we did in our Utah house so it is nice and open. Here is a picture of our lovely apartment (and my rental car...we shipped my car and it still hasn't arrived...it's been 2 1/2 weeks, but who's counting?).

We even got some Christmas decorations up as well as the tree...Davis has done amazingly well leaving it alone. I don't dare put presents underneath as I'm sure they would be opened immediately!

I really liked the ward on Sunday. It will be interesting to see if we end up staying in this ward or not. It was really big and lots of young people (our agish) and LOTS of kids. There are 3 nurseries-18 kids going into sunbeams in January. Yikes. It is really weird not to know anyone-but we have already been recruited to help the missionaries tonight with a discussion and there is the ward Christmas party on Friday so hopefully we can start to get involved. I also applied for a couple of jobs today so we will see how that goes. I can get to Walmart and Target without the GPS and I know the names of all the freeways (just not where they go!) so I am figuring out how to get around. So, we are getting adjusted and enjoying Kentucky!

Halfway Moved

Well, I have no Thanksgiving pictures to post because my camera cord is in a box somewhere between here and Kentucky. We spent the beginning of the week packing up and loading up our 'pods' with all of our stuff (Thank you so much to everyone that helped). When the 4 pods were full, we still had a living room full of stuff...it was a lot of money to get another pod so we spent Wednesday morning (like 5 hours) re-arranging and re-packing and fit most everything in. I wish I had taken a picture of them full. We used pretty much every square inch. There were a few things that didn't make the cut, but for the most part we got the important things. I felt a little like a pioneer trying to prioritize what we really needed and just kept thinking somewhere in those pods are boxes full of hangers and I have to leave my treadmill here? You have to be kidding. Anyway, I am so glad we are done with this side of it (only 2 more moves to go!). We had a really nice Thanksgiving with Steve's family and have been so grateful that we could stay at my parents house while they are out of town. Steve went back to Kentucky this morning and I leave on Tuesday. We are really going to do this! It seems a little surreal. I am excited but aprehensive and it will be good to finally be moved instead of just talking about it and to have our family back together. Kentucky, here we come!

Cougar Fans!!

Davis has to be the cutest BYU fan ever (Steve is going to LOVE this!) I had to go down to BYU the other day to get my transcripts and I couldn't resist making a little stop by the bookstore! I just love being on campus...so many fun great memories. Just being there makes me happy! Davis even says Go Cougars! So cute! We will be cheering loud for our team tomorrow! Go BYU! Beat Utah!
