My New Best Friend

Alright, you already know that I LOVE cycling. Not the outside kind...I did enough of that on my mission to last me a lifetime. Somehow riding a bike with my skirt tucked into my knee-hi nylons so it wouldn't get stuck in the chain in REALLY HOT, REALLY HUMID weather with sweat running down my face (and other unmentionable areas) and wearing a super ugly helmet and being chased by mangy street dogs (although seeing my companion, Hermana Youngquist being chased by said dogs is a priceless memory I can never forget!!) for 6 months straight ruined my love of riding a bike outside. Anyway, I will stick to the inside, super calorie burning, best workout ever kind of cycling. I love it. We went to visit my brother and his lovely, personal trainer of a wife in December. Well, she has a spin bike at home and I thought I was in heaven getting to ride right in their living room every day I was there. Steve thought it was pretty great too and we have really been wanting to have some sort of in-home workout option (since we ran out of room on the moving truck when we came to Kentucky and left our super-ghetto craigslist treadmill in Utah). So, we decided to invest in this beauty:

I just have to say it is the best thing ever. It is so hard to get to the gym right now when I am getting no sleep and have a little baby and I can barely get through the day as it is! Anyway, being able to get up and walk downstairs and spin in my very own house...well, a dream come true! Steve built a stand for a TV yesterday and we cleaned out our storage room last week with new shelves (also a life changer going from piles of boxes and rubbermaids to organized shelves with everything labeled and I actually know where everything is!!) so now we have a lovely workout set up. Oh, happiness!!

I do realize I am a little crazy to write a long post about a bike, but what can I say? I'm excited!!

One Month Old!

Emery turned one month old last Friday...I can't believe she is a month already, but it seems like it has been a long time since she was born. Anyway, she had her 1 month appointment yesterday and she is getting big! Here are her stats:
8 lbs 14oz (36th percentile)
21 1/4 inches (54th percentile)

She gained 2 pounds since her last appointment, so that is pretty good. She is fattening right up! It will be interesting to see if she grows as quickly as Davis did...he has always been in the 95th percentile...hopefully she will be a little smaller! Not only is she growing, but she is getting cuter every day! She is getting onto somewhat of a schedule and I am crossing my fingers that she will sleep through the night in a couple of weeks. I remembered today that I am going back to work in a couple of weeks (I am going to work 1 afternoon a week) so I need to be giving her a bottle to make sure she will take one...she drank it right up, I guess food is good no matter how it is delivered!
Emery loves this chair but I think it is ugly, so I never want to take pictures of her in it...but she spends a lot of time in there! It vibrates and she thinks it is the best thing ever.

Grandma Janie saves the day

Grandma Janie came and stayed with us for a week and can I just say that we miss her and wish she could have stayed forever! She seriously was a life saver and pretty much did everything for me so I could rest and take care of the baby. Davis is especially missing her since she was the best playmate ever and spent lots of time entertaining him. I am working on getting my act together now that she is gone and trying to figure out how to take care of 2 kids, my house and do it with no sleep. (Can you tell I haven't figured it out yet?!) Thanks again Grandma Janie, we love you!

One of the many fun things that Davis did with Grandma was make Valentines sugar cookies. He now wants to help me cook everything!

Loving Baby Emery

My nephew, Dallin was baptized last Saturday and his older brother, Cooper turned 12 and received the preisthood the next day. So, we were lucky enough to have Grandma and Grandpa Larsen (or Lawson as Davis says) come visit and Emery got to meet them for the first time. It is always so great to have them here.

I think that my niece, Eva is Emery's biggest fan (Eva likes Emery a whole lot more than Davis does...he kind of just ignores her and goes about his business!). She always wants to hold her and look at her and says how much she loves her. She likes to sing Emery songs and is very good at watching her for me. What a good cousin she is.

Shoveling with Dad

We have had unbelievable amounts of snow around here lately...at least for Louisville. Lets just say if I am tired of being inside, Davis is going CRAZY! He hates it...he is constantly asking me to go somewhere or play with someone. I feel bad for him! So, last week Steve got home from work late and had to shovel the driveway and walks (a husband job, for sure) and Davis wanted to go out with him so badly. We have no snow gear for him...it usually doesn't snow very much and I figure he'll just use 2 or 3 times and then be grown out of it so why spend the money? Besides, playing in the snow with kids is another husband job...one of those things that is just not in my mommy job description! Anyway, It was 9:00pm and I thought he would last maybe 5 minutes because it was so cold so Steve put a few pairs of pants on him and made him these sweet 'boots' out of Walmart bags. Ingenious, that husband of mine. Well, he stayed out with Steve the entire time he was shoveling and had a grand old time. Freezing, but fun! What a great daddy he has.

Here are some more pictures of the little miss. I think she gets cuter every day. It is so interesting to see how different she already looks than a couple of days ago. She is such a good girl...eating pretty well and sleeping lots and keeping me up all night! It has been so great to just spend time with her and enjoy her.
