I'm Back!

So apparently my camera won't work with Windows Vista so I have to download to my old computer then bring the pictures over on a flash drive. I guess I could have done that all along but, well, I'm a little slow! Plus, it's a pain but at least I am back in business! This post is probably really boring for most of you but I have had numerous requests from my family members for pictures of our new house so here are a few. There are still some rooms I am working on and will post when I get them done.

Living Room...it's big and long. Kind of hard to set up but I like how it turned out. The end isn't done yet so I didn't take a picture.

Davis' room...I wish I had a before picture of this room because it was really ugly but I LOVE how it turned out. Steve was labor and I was the brains on this one! (although I painted everything). He did a great job on the shelving. And yes, Davis' bed is backwards so he can't

Kitchen: This was my least favorite room in the house, but once I got it put together it is actually okay. We are saving to do some remodeling in here and I can't wait to replace the white appliances but it is actually pretty functional.

The main floor bathroom ceiling. Lets just our washing machine had some issues when we first hooked it up and we had a little flooding (or a lot of flooding) into this bathroom and we had to tear out the ceiling. Steve can't wait to repair this ceiling this weekend!!

The basement: Davis is loving his new toy room (it's actually finished and isn't the size of a closet like the old house). The guys from the ward that helped us move tried to convince us we must get a new TV to fit this space but I think that is going to be awhile down the road. It does look a little ridiculous! I think it's funny!

House

We closed on our house on Thursday! It is very exciting to know that we are homeowners again. We spent the entire weekend painting and still have a lot to do this week before we move in next Saturday. Did I mention I hate moving? At least this time more than half our stuff is already packed (still in storage) and we are actually moving to a house so it is exciting. Pictures to come once we get moved in (and if I ever get my camera to work again!).

A Crazy Week

So I still can't get my camera to work with my new computer and I am waiting for Steve to fix it for me! I have some cute pictures to post hopefully someday! It has been a really crazy week here. We had several snow storms with freezing rain inbetween which made a really really big mess. It was almost impossible to drive anywhere. The entire city pretty much shut down and we have been stuck inside for several days in a row! On Wednesday Steve couldn't make it to work because the roads were so bad and we barely made it over to Keith and Jen's so we had a snow party a couple of days in a row over there. Steve's sister, Stacy is visiting and she got snowed in with us! Over 200,000 people in Louisville didn't have power and a lot of those people still don't. Because of the ice storm, the trees had tons of ice on them. They were really heavy and fell over or branches broke off and brought down the power lines. My entire car was encased in at least an inch of ice. It has been unreal. The temperature is supposed to be over freezing so maybe things will start melting. I am just glad the roads are driveable again and we can get out and around. Our nephew is getting baptized tomorrow so Steve's parents are coming into town tonight and we look forward to a weekend full of family fun!

COLD!!!

Okay, I know some of you have it worse than us, however, I am not used to this cold cold weather (especially the humid feel of it) and just have to vent about how much I dislike it. I went to the gym the other morning and my car thermometer said -6. (plus with the windchill it feels a lot colder). I have never been somewhere that cold. Seriously, it is terrible. Thank goodness it isn't that cold every day, but it is still really really cold. I feel bad even taking Davis outside. On Sunday night it snowed (which is rare here) about an inch and a half. I like to make fun of how people freak out driving-wise when it snows here but on Sunday there was already a layer of ice on the roads and then it snowed and it was really treacherous getting home from our friends house. We had a near miss of a run-in with the guard rail getting off the freeway and felt really lucky since we had seen several accidents and lots and lots of people that had crashed into the guard rails or were stuck on the roads everywhere. The ice is a definite problem! So I will quit making fun of Kentuckians snow-driving! I am already dying for spring and it isn't even the end of January yet. It's going to be a long winter.

Our Future House

Our offer was just accepted today on this cute cute house! I think we have looked at every house in our price range in the entire city of Louisville. It has been kind of frustrating process, but I am glad to have finally found the right house. The ironic thing is we looked at this house our very first day of looking and then came back around to it after about a million other houses! We made an offer on it about a week and a half ago and they wouldn't drop the price as much as we wanted to we didn't take it. But, we kept looking at other houses and just couldn't find anything else that had as many of the things that we really wanted that this house has. So we went back and negotiated some more and got them to come down some more the second time around and we are now under contract. Lets just say I am counting down the days until closing so we can get out of our apartment! It really isn't that bad...just hard to go from a house to an apartment and it will be great to be settled where we are going to live for a long time and not feel like we are still in transition. So exciting!

Back to the Gym!

You all know how much I love to work out, right? Well since we moved to Louisville, we have been working out at the little fitness center at our apartment complex. This has been fine but I was starting to feel beat up by the crappy treadmill everyday and I am so sick of running on the treadmill. We finally joined the YMCA this week and I went to spin class the last 2 days and I just have to say it was wonderful. I feel like a new person! I just love the gym and have missed it so much. So glad to be back!

Wow, I have not blogged forever. I do have a sort of good excuse...we got a new computer for Christmas and it has taken me awhile to get everything switched over, then we were having problems with the internet working but we finally got a router this weekend and got the internet worked out. However now I can't get my camera to download to this computer. So, still now pictures but as soon as I get it working I will do a holidays update. We have been spending all of our spare time looking for houses and being a little frustrated about it, but I think we have some good leads this week so we will see how it goes. Hopefully we can find the right thing for us...SOON!

An update on our car drama...the company that shipped our car broke off the mirror and we didn't know it but there was a $250 deductible so we ended up having to pay for most of it. Unfortunately that was the least of our problems. A few weekends ago, right after we got the car back from the shippers, we drove down to Nashville for some business stuff that Steve had to do down there. Well, our clutch went out about 30 miles outside of Nashville. Someone from the division down there had to come get us, we had our car towed to the dealership and then after going through all the channels that we could, Nissan refused to cover the clutch even though the car only has 18,000 miles on it and is under warranty. They consider it a 'wear and tear item'. So, well, that just stinks. It was a ton of money to get it fixed. I still can't believe that they wouldn't cover it. We will never buy another Nissan. They weren't even willing to listen to us or give us any options. I pretty much hate them. Yes, I am bitter! I can't believe that much can go wrong with one car in such a short amount of time. At least we have it all back in one piece and it drives!
