BYU!!

I decided had better start working on my BYU indoctrination with Davis. This was an especially good opportunity since the UofU fan in our family was not present. So we went to visit Grandma Larsen who teaches at BYU on campus and had a great time reliving my glory days. I just love being there. I think Davis had a good time, too. I am doing a pretty good job of turning him into a Cougar fan.

I think the kids favorite part of campus was this bed they found in the restroom. Whatever makes them happy, right?
Davis got so excited as soon as he could see the 'Y' on the mountain when we drove into Provo.
We got to eat lunch at the Cougareat with Grandma. Those are some cute little Cougar fans! Davis also got a new BYU shirt which he wears very proudly!

Visiting Fun

We had such a fun time visiting family and friends while we were in Utah. I told Steve it was one of my favorite trips I have taken because he wasn't there! Now don't get me wrong, we missed him like crazy and wished he could have been there with us, but it was so fun to be able to do whatever I wanted and be able to visit all of my friends and family and not worry about what he wanted to do! Totally selfish, I know, but it really was great!

We went to a really fun kids place called Pirates Cove in Provo with my Grandma Lindsay. The kids loved it and it was so fun to spend time with her. She also got a new little puppy named Molly and the kids LOVED playing with her!


We had a chance to stop by and see Grandpa and Grandma Black (Steve's grandparents). We always love seeing them!
I was so happy to get together with a few of my favorite EFY friends. We were able to meet up at Julie Kaye's mom's house and can I just say it is kid heaven in her back yard? They have a club house, trampoline, water everything and a zip line. Davis went on this thing about 50 times and I had to bribe him to leave. So much fun!
I forgot to take a picture before Heather left, but here is Julie Kaye, Sharon, Fernando and I. These are just some of my favorite people and it had been way too long since I had seen them. I am so happy they took time to get together with us!

I was able to go see my college (freshman, sophmore, and junior years) roomate, Tepoe. This girl and I had so many good times together...our third year of school we moved into a house where we got our own rooms but we would end up sleeping on the floor of each others room because we couldn't sleep by ourselves anymore! She just had her fourth child, Maire, and it was so fun to see her!
My best friend from High School (or should I say surrogate sister?) came over one night. She just had her third daughter, Mckenzie and I was so happy to meet her. The girls had a great time making lego crowns and playing together. Here is Princess Emery and Princess Maddie:

Emery, Maddie, Mckenzie and Cordie. Apparently Davis was being anti-girl this night. I looked really ugly in the picture of Kaylene and I so I am not posting it. But I love her like crazy!

This is a picture of my roomates and a couple girls that we were great friends with from the Cherry House (where I lived at BYU after my mission). Michelle, Terry and I were all speech path majors and spent most of our waking hours together either in class or living at the Cherry House together. We were super lucky to live with Karen too, who put up with us 'speechies'. I loved living with these girls and it was so great to see all of them.

This first picture is Davis climbing the tree in my parents front yard. Well, Grandpa lifted him up into it and then he moved around a little. He was pretty excited about it!

Silver Lake

We went up to Silver Lake in Big Cottonwood Canyon one of the first days we were there. I think the thing I miss the most is the mountains so it was amazing to be up there. Davis loved every second of it and asked to go to the mountains almost every day we were on our trip. We went with Grandma and Grandpa Wright and my Grandma Lindsay and Aunt Diane came along for the first part of our outing, but I didn't get a picture of them. It was so beautiful up there.


There was a ton of water...there was a couple of spots that the walk way was covered with water and don't worry, Davis did get in the lake. It happened super quick but he left behind his flip flops and my Dad had to dig them out of the lake.


Snow in July. I couldn't believe it. It was pretty chilly up there and we weren't really prepared for the occasion with our flip flops and no jackets.

Our Utah Trip

The next few posts will be of our trip to Utah. Steve went on a business trip to Atlanta (his home away from home, unfortunately!) for 3 weeks, so I decided there was no way we were staying home along that entire time! The kids and I got to go to Utah for two weeks and we had the best time. I took a ton of pictures, so here we go...

I was so stressed about flying with the kids by myself. Overall, it was better than I expected but I didn't expect much, so lets just say it wasn't great! We made it there and back in one piece, and that was good enough I guess! Here are the crazies on the one flight out of 4 that I was able to have a seat for Emery's car seat. It was the best leg by far!

Happy 4th of July

We had a great 4th of July here in Kentucky. The last 2 years, Steve has been out of town on the 4th so we were super happy to have him here and celebrate together!

Isn't this dress to die for? I can't stand how cute Emery looks in it. Aunt Jenny got it for her and I wish she could wear it every Sunday. She is my patriotic girl. Davis was already at church with Steve so I didn't get a picture of him...

We celebrated the 4th with a BBQ, of course. Good times with the Larsen's and the Madsen's. These two boys never stop making me laugh. They are just trouble together. Cute trouble, but trouble all the same!

Watching fireworks...the city made the huge fireworks legal this year, so it was hard for our fun box of 'street' fireworks to compete with everything going on in the sky around us, but it made for a good show. I think the kids loved it.

Learning New Chores

This summer Davis has been working on learning some new chores. He is turning into quite the helper. He can wash windows and mirrors, vacuum the kitchen floor, clean up any room, do the dishes, etc. While we stayed at Grandpa and Grandma's house he learned how to feed the dog (it was super cute, but I don't think he will be needing that skill anytime soon at our house), take out the trash and anything else Grandma needed help with. I think being out of school has been a little hard for him...he does really well with the structure school gives, so having chores to do every day has helped us have some more structure at our house! I am so proud of this big boy!
Of course, Emery had to get in on the cleaning action. She wants to do everything that Davis does.
