Christmas Activities

Our great friends, The Bloods hosted their annual gingerbread house making party.  Davis and I worked really hard on our house.  He was so cute about the house and worked on it for over an hour with me when most of the other kids were done and playing.  I was impressed with his ideas and dedication!

We went to Breakfast with Santa at my work.  The whole morning Emery was talking about what she wanted to tell Santa and was super excited to see him...then had a complete meltdown when it was actually time to see him.  She wouldn't even go near him.  It was hilarious.  She did enjoy the chocolate donut, however.

Christmas Preparations

The kids helped decorate the tree...I only moved things around a little bit after they went to bed!

We had an elf come for the first time this year.  The kids named him Tinsel.  I have to say that Tinsel really did help improve some children's behavior at our house.

Grandma Larsen sent us this Little People Nativity.  The kids LOVED it!

Thanksgiving

We hosted Thanksgiving at our house this year.  It was a full house and a lot of fun.  So grateful to have so much of our family here with us.  The kids spent the morning coloring turkey place mats for the kids table.  Steve spent the morning playing football and injured himself (bruised his ribs).  About 20 minutes before everyone was supposed to arrive he said he wanted to go to urgent care because he was in so much pain.  Ummm, unless you are dying, I don't think so.  If you think I am going to host your family on Thanksgiving by myself you have something else coming.  He stayed home and suffered.  Love him:)

Steve 'carpeted and curtained' the garage with stuff from work (the perks of being in the trade show buisiness!) and we set up the kids table out there.  It was a really warm day so it worked out great.  After dinner we set up a Wii on a projector and the kids had a great time playing out there.

I made our family rolls..since I apparently have a hard time reading directions I didn't realize how long you have to have them out to raise, etc. so lets just say I was up really late the night before Thanksgiving making rolls!

The Moons Visit for Thanksgiving

The Moons came to visit for Thanksgiving and we had so much fun with them.  We are so grateful that they would make the drive from Iowa to spend the holiday with us.  While they were here we went to Mammoth Caves, one of our favorite places to take people when they come visit.  The kids did really well even with our tour being really long.  My favorite moment was when Emery had to go potty down in the cave so we made her pee on the side of the cave in the dirt and almost got caught by a Ranger that we didn't know was behind us.  I could just see us being fined or something.  It was pretty funny.  When she has to go, she has to go!  

Emery really wanted Miley to have a sleepover in her room.  I didn't think she would ever go to sleep because she was so excited about the whole thing but with the threat of Miley having to go downstairs if she didn't go to sleep she did really well. 

We took the Moons to see Lights Under Louisville in the Mega Cavern (man made caves under the Louisville zoo).  You drive through the cave and see all the Christmas light displays.  It was our first time...I thought it was a little pricey for what it was but we had a good time and it got us in the Christmas spirit!

Little Indians

These two little Indians had fun learning about Thanksgiving at their schools.  I was amazed how much Davis learned about the pilgrims and Indians and how we started celebrating Thanksgiving.  They loved their Indian outfits, and looked pretty cute in them too!

Great Wolf Lodge

We went to Great Wolf Lodge with several families from our ward.  I have to say it was not my favorite trip we have taken...our kids were horrible!  Davis was sick and Emery was just naughty!  It was still fun especially since we went with a bunch of our friends but I have no motivation to take our kids anywhere again anytime soon! 

2012 Presidential Election

The presidential election has been a big part of lives lately.  Steve was pretty much obsessed with FOX news and keeping up on everything to do with the campaigns.  I took Davis with me to vote and it was really neat to start teaching him about our political system and how important it is to vote.  I was so grateful to be able to vote for Mitt Romney.  It was incredible to me that there was a candidate that I was able to believe in so much.  I felt that there was so much hope for our country with him.  We are still in mourning around here that he didn't win.  It was so disappointing....but...we will continue to have hope and work hard to make our country great.
