Our Huber Farm Visit

Davis had the day off school and I got really brave and took the kids to Huber Farm by myself.  We go there every year to pick out pumpkins and I decided we had to go even if Steve wasn't able to go with us.  It actually was a really great day and we had such a good time.  There is just something so wonderful about fall and pumpkins and spending time together.  Our rule is you have to be able to carry your own pumpkin that you pick.  That was especially important this time since I had the baby in the carrier and no Dad to carry pumpkins.  Davis found one that he loved and was able to carry...Emery couldn't find one so we ended up getting a little pie pumpkin at the market when we got back from the pumpkin patch.  She was happy as could be about the whole thing thankfully.  My favorite moment of the day is when we were walking to the car, an older man was trying  to push a cart across gravel to load into his car.  The cart fell over and all of this pumpkins and things he had bought fell all over the ground.  Davis immediately without any prompting said 'Mom we have to go help him'.  He ran over and we helped him upright his cart, pick up all his things and helped him get successfully to his car.  I was so happy that Davis was so thoughtful and aware of someone needing help.  A proud mamma moment!  We were able to stop by and see Aunt Chelli and her boys on the way home since their new house is practically down the street from Huber Farm, so that was a perfect ending to a great day. 

October Without Dad

Well, October is always a little rough around here.  Steve has his 2 biggest shows of the year to produce at work and he worked every single day in October, with the majority being very long days and he was rarely home before any of us went to bed, if he came home at all.  It is hard on him and it is hard on us!  But, we survived and we are so glad it is over!  It sure helps us appreciate the time that we do get to spend together as a family.  The kids and I did have a lot of fun doing fun fall activities and getting ready for Halloween.  

Conference weekend was one of the hardest (I HATE it when Steve is gone on the weekends, but with no church to break it up, it about did me in).  Emery was up to her usual antics...

These kids sure look happy to their Dad!   It had been few days...they were so excited he got home in time to put them to bed. 

We had a fun family home evening lesson about smiles-being happy and in turn helping others around us be happy.  Thanks to Grandma Janie for the wonderful FHE lessons she made.  The kids LOVE them!

Crazy Mornings

We sure have some crazy mornings around here trying to get Davis to the bus on time and having everyone ready for the day.  I keep thinking it should get better and I keep trying to be more organized the night before, but it seems that no matter what I do the morning is completely crazy.  

I usually try to feed Ivy in the car while we wait for the bus then we go straight to the gym.  This particular morning we just barely missed the bus so we chased it (we caught up and Davis was able to get on at the next stop) but I had Ivy on my lap while I was driving.  Thankfully my neighbors did not call CPS. 

Still working on getting Emery to do all her 'chores' by herself in the morning.  You can tell she got herself dressed this day!  I had to laugh when I saw her.  At least she got dressed! 

Catch Up

Here are a few catch up pictures...

I didn't start Ivy on solids until she turned 6 months and even then it took a good month to get her to actually eat anything.  Now she is insatiably hungry!  She did, however, quite enjoy these wheel things that seems to turn to glue when they get wet.  A bath was required after she ate one of these!

I can't even remember whose glasses these are, but I think this picture is hilarious. 

Emery spent September getting used to going to her preschool classes two mornings a week and getting used to Davis being gone all day.  She still asks me during the day when his bus will get here or if we can go pick him up.  She misses him a lot!  She is still learning to pedal her bike and if I ever have enough patience to sit outside and work with her, she will probably get it! 

We are so lucky to be in the same ward with the other Larsens!  I love that I get to see my niece and nephews in primary every week and they are just so sweet to my kids.  They love Ivy so much!  Sam always wants to hold her and play with her.  Sweet boy. 

This was Ivy's first time sitting in the shopping cart.  Lets just say she charmed the whole store.  I think I had 20 people talk to me about her and oooh and ahhh over her.  Such a sweetheart. 

Johnny has been babysitting for us every so often...it is SO NICE!  I hate that he is growing up so quickly but it does have its perks!  This was his first time watching Ivy while we went to the temple. 

Davis' school had a fun run to raise money for their school.  We didn't make it to see him run but my neighbor Angela sent me this picture of him.  She said he was so serious about it all and was super fast, passing all the kids and was amazing!  I think his competitive gear might have kicked in.

I have been working hard training for my next race.  We had some beautiful weather and the girls helped me out with my training a few mornings.  They are pretty good running buddies!

A Fun Ward Activity

We had a really fun ward activity with minute to win it type games.  We are so grateful for our ward and great friends!                                   

Davis Starts Kindergarten

It really happened...my little boy started kindergarten.  It was a day that I was dreading and looking forward to all at the same time. I did shed a few tears his first day.  I still have moments during the day when he is gone that I get a little sad.  It is just weird that he is gone so much and doing all these things that we aren't a part of.  It also changes our lives..we now have to plan around a school schedule and we are part of a new school community.  In the end, these are all good things and school has been great for Davis.  We worked really hard this summer learning to read and he was very ready to start school.  He was so excited, I almost felt bad being sad!  He didn't know anyone in his class which was really different for him after going to preschool with his cousin and friends but he has made friends (of course) and loves his teacher, Mrs. McClellan.  So, I guess I can say Kindergarten is great and he is loving it.

Ivy 6 Months

Ivy turned 6 months old on August 2.  I just keep wondering, how can one baby be so cute?! She just continues to be the best, sweetest baby.  She always has a smile (even when she is crabby or sad, she will still smile at you-she can't help it!) and has a calming, peaceful (if that is possible with her sister around) influence on our household. I could not love her more!  Here are her 6 month stats:  

Weight:  15 pounds (36th percentile)

Length:  25.5 inches (23rd percentile)
